스탠포드대학교는 미국 캘리포니아주 스탠포드에 있는 사립 연구중심 종합대학교이다. 

정식 명칭은 릴런드 스탠포드 주니어 대학교(Leland Stanford Junior University)이다. 1885년 릴런드와 제인 스탠포드 부부가 15세 때 장티푸스로 세상을 떠난 외아들 릴런드 스탠포드 주니어를 기리기 위해 설립했다. 여러 대학 순위평가에서 최상위권을 차지하는 미국 서부의 명문대학교이다. 40개 학과가 개설된 3개의 학부대학과 법학과 의학, 교육, 경영 대학원 등 7개 대학으로 구성돼 있다.

Merit-based 장학금은 제공하지 않고, 오직 학생 가정의 재정적 필요성(financial need)에 의해 지급하는 Need-based(재정보조 장학금)만 제공한다고 합니다. 

브라운 대학은 미국 시민권 또는 영주권 보유한 학생에게만 Need-blind 적용하였고 국제학생의 경우 Need-blind가 적용되지않아 장학금 신청 여부를 신중히 결정해야 한다.

High School Degree :

We accept a large variety of School Leaving Certificates such as: the US High School Diploma, Abitur, International Baccalaureate, etc.. If the final high school degree is not yet available when the students submit their application, they may provide their current transcript instead.

Excellent Grades in Mathematics & Physics : 

Physics and Mathematics must be present on the last two years of the High School Transcript of Records. Should this not be the case, applicants may upload SAT II Subject test scores or a comparable equivalent in the missing subject to fulfill this requirement 

SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) : 

Math & Evidence-Based Reading & Writing with at least 1.200 points.

English Language Proficiency :

Applicants are required to include proof of English language proficiency in the form of TOEFL (570pb // 250 cb // 88 iBT), IELTS (band score of 6.5), CAE, CPE or UNIcert (level II or better) should English not be their native language. 1819년 미국 3대 대통령이자 '독립선언문' 기초작성자인 토머스 제퍼슨이 설립하였다.
