카를스루에공과대학교(KIT)는 독일 바덴뷔르템베르크주 카를스루에에 있는 공립 연구중심 종합대학교이다.
독일에서 가장 큰 규모의 연구 · 교육기관 중의 하나이다.
1825년 공업학교로 시작한 이 대학교는 2009년 카를스루에연구소와 합쳐져 카를스루에공과대학교로 다시 태어났다. 독일의 대표적인 공과대학들의 모임인 TU9 리그의 일원이다. 독일대학 우수화 선도사업의 일환으로 2006년 우수지위를 인정받았다.
TU9은 독일의 9개의 선두적인 공과대학교(Technische Universität, TU)의 연합체.
1900년도 이전으로 연혁이 거슬러 올라가는 독일 공과대학들의 비공식 컨소시엄으로 2003년에 설립되었다.

TU9은 독일에서 제3자로부터의 펀딩(자금지원)을 가장 많이 받은 대학들로, 모든 과학 분야에서 전체 DFG가 지원하는 자금 중 21% 이상을 받았고, 특히 공학분야에서는 DFG의 지원 자금의 대략 50%가 TU9 대학들에 주어졌다. 드레스덴공과대학교는 전기공학에서 가장 많은 DFG 자금을 받았고, 컴퓨터과학에서는 다름슈타트공과대학교가, 기계공학에서는 아헨공과대학교가 받았다. 유럽 연합의 최고 과학상인 유럽 연구 위원회의 자금 수령자의 4분의 1이 TU9 대학들이다.

Our Admission Requirements
To apply for Mechanical Engineering (International), applicants need to fulfill the following requirements
High School Degree :
We accept a large variety of School Leaving Certificates such as: the US High School Diploma, Abitur, International Baccalaureate, etc.. If the final high school degree is not yet available when the students submit their application, they may provide their current transcript instead.
Excellent Grades in Mathematics & Physics :
Physics and Mathematics must be present on the last two years of the High School Transcript of Records. Should this not be the case, applicants may upload SAT II Subject test scores or a comparable equivalent in the missing subject to fulfill this requirement
SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) :
Math & Evidence-Based Reading & Writing with at least 1.200 points.
English Language Proficiency :
Applicants are required to include proof of English language proficiency in the form of TOEFL (570pb // 250 cb // 88 iBT), IELTS (band score of 6.5), CAE, CPE or UNIcert (level II or better) should English not be their native language. If English has been the language of instruction of the higher education, applicants may submit our Declaration of English Proficiency form to be waived from English language testing obligations.
Letter of Motivation :
The motivation letter should be written in English and not exceed two pages. It should contain the following topics: Introduction and personal background / Interest and skill related to science and engineering / motivation for study Mechanical Engineering / personal goals during the studies / future career goals
